1. Get a bag

2. Keep the lid on

The DSLR’s lens is also very sensitive to foreign materials. It can easily get scratched. Thus, it is always recommended that you keep your DSLR lens’s covered every time you are not using it.

3. Beware of changing temperatures

If you have just been into an environment with intense heat and you suddenly entered an air-conditioned room, do not remove your DSLR from its bag immediately. Wait for at least half an hour for the bag’s temperature to gradually change. Exposure to changing temperatures can cause moisture on its lens that can cloud the pictures taken.

4. Keep it manual

Keep the lens into manual focus (or MF) mode when not being used. Accidentally spinning the camera’s focus while it is in AF (autofocus) mode can damage its auto focus capability. Thus, setting it to MF when not used keeps the possibility of damaging the autofocus at bay.

5. Keep it away from children

DSLR’s are not for children. Children’s playful and curious nature can prove to be disastrous for your DSLR.
